Well, I managed a nap. Wonderful & badly needed. This was after a visit to the hairdresser, also wonderful & badly needed.
Last night through the insomnia, I put together a semi-random Sekritly Canadian playlist, which is in no way definitive, but was kinda fun. It was based on things that I have in iTunes right now, as opposed to some other songs and artists that would more properly be there were I making a value judgement, and a few songs simply are old favourites of mine that are more a reflection of the time I was at university than of their intrinsic worth or quality. Anyway, this is it:
1. If I Had a Million Dollars - Barenaked Ladies
2. Tonight is a Wonderful Time (To Fall in Love) - April Wine
3. Sweet James - Cowboy Junkies
4. Iris - Googoo Dolls
5. Canadian Railroad Trilogy - Gordon Lightfoot
6. End of the World - Great Big Sea
7. Innocence - Harlequin
8. I Got a New Girl Now - Honeymoon Suite
9. Pretty Vegas - INXS
10. It Can't Rain All the Time - Jane Siberry
11. Raised on Robbery - Joni Mitchell
12. Constant Craving - kd lang
13. This Beat Goes On/Switching to Glide - Kings
14. Everybody Knows - Leonard Cohen
15. Mary Got a Baby - Lizband
16. Echo Beach - Martha & the Muffins
17. Can't You See? - Matt Minglewood
18. Four Strong Winds - Neil Young
19. Like a Hurricane - Neil Young
20. Never Said I Loved You - Payola$ with Carole Pope
21. Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright
22. The Trees - Rush
23. Old Emotions - Spoons
24. White Hot - Tom Cochrane & Red Rider
25. New Orleans is Sinking - Tragically Hip
26. Boots or Hearts - Tragically Hip
Some other people thought about similar ideas rather more deeply that I did, and their lists are here:

Anyway, I think I'll keep the playlist for homesick wintry afternoons.

I made up a Scottish Playlist, and a Barrowlands one, which I think are on iTunes under Mr Bad Example. But I'll try to dig out the full versions (a sixty track playlist can shrink to 10 or so when it's limited to tracks available in the iTunes store).
