Six word meme (Via [personal profile] mevennen)

([personal profile] morgaine_x Jan. 5th, 2006 02:29 pm)
Don't you think Bush looks tired?

I couldn't resist; it's the most amusing thing I've seen today, and it was one of the main things to endear me to David Tennant, following the CBC's unexpected broadcast of the Xmas special. :)

At last. Someone of whom I am not scared has published this, and I can therefore confess that I don't understand a bleeding word of it.

Thank you.

At last someone else has admitted they don't get it. Now I can ask what it's all about too. ;-)

I know it's not my meme, but it relates to the Doctor Who Christmas episode.

He's just found out that the PM, who we previously thought of as nice if a bit bumbling, is actually a politician - she orders a retreating alien vessel blown out of the sky rather than let them get away and maybe return to the attack another day (resemblances to the sinking of the Belgrano during the Falklands war entirely intended, I think).

The Doctor is absolutely furious about this, and starts raving at the PM that he can bring her down with a single word. She warns him not to threaten her, and he replies, "No, six words will do it", then walks over to her aide and whispers in his ear: "Don't you think she looks tired?".

By the end of the show you see her denying that she has any health issues before a vote of no confidence.

I thought it was a very clever and credible piece of writing, and made me think that the new Doctor has a lot of the John Constantine about him (the comic's version, not the movie's).

*inhale*

*exhale - breath not needed*

Yep. He's got it. Nothing for me to add.

Except it's not just Dr Who - it's actually a very powerful way of undermining someone. :)

Thank you. I really must get a copy of that thing seeing as I was out of the country for Christmas. Couldn't find it anywhere on my usual download places though...

It was remarkably good fun, even if they had only budgeted for ten minutes of Tennant's time :-) (he spends large parts of the episode unconscious)

Even though the Doctor Who reference/background went over my head ... these are the best six words I've read today. Sounds a little strange maybe, so let me rephrase this as "the punchiest statement" I've read today.
