OK, things finally seem to have returned to normal. All night, my browsing capabilities were rubbish - most of my usual sites would not connect AT ALL.
I am now officially finished work until the new year. I did work late, and miss most of the cocktail party waiting for a fax from the UK (damn Brits - can't escape 'em ;) and did actually work an hour and a half after the party but finally got a glass of JD with ice. This was looked on approvingly *snort* T thinks I'll probably have a glass on my desk constantly during tax season.
...I could do that...
OK, good news front: Dad had good reports at the oncologist. There appears to be no change with his chronic leukemia, still no treatment required. That was cause for a BIG sigh of relief this afternoon.
Jeff recovered the gifts he'd left on the counter at ToysRUs last night, and got Kyle a racing jersey out of the money I'd given him for the purpose.
Kathleen gave me a beautiful soft black shawl for Christmas that reminds me of a puppy, as it did Dave too, apparently, as he asked if it came with a leash. She loved her Xmas present from all of us in the department, which was a gift voucher for her favourite clothing shop and a bottle of Chateauneuf de Pape. And she immediately divined that I'd chosen the wine.
I got a big thank-you for staying late (and sober!) and finishing up a job for A. I have a pile of Norwegians in my cubby for the new year.
Blessed solstice, everyone. Home tomorrow afternoon...
(ETA: Xmas card fron the lovely
interlock received - thanks, sweetie!)
