My friend and drinking companion, John Devine, died last night.
John, who was from Glasgow, but lived in Bolton for many years, was a BBC sound engineer, a great reader and wonderful source of knowledge of the actual locales of the "Rebus" books, and a gentleman, who dubbed me an honorary boy for Friday nights out with the chaps.
I have no doubt that he will be sorely missed, and many a glass will be raised in his honour.
