Mom just phoned. My father's oldest friend died last night. He had a heart attack last week, and the hospital sent him home a couple of days ago. Yesterday, a couple of hours after he saw his family doctor, the family found him slumped over on the sofa. She called the fire department and ambulance - which is a half-hour away, so nit takes a minimum of an hour to get to the hospital, but no one could do anything. He was 65, would have been 66 on Christmas Eve.
