Top 500?

Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

15 of the first 100 are on my iPod, and there are a few not there that I'd like to be. But I'm surprised there aren't more - maybe when I read through the other 400, I'll have a better idea.

I couldn't see how they had selected the songs. I think there are far too many Beatles tunes in there (I'm really not a Beatles fan - once they stopped being rock and roll...) - my guess is that they were chosen by some bloke that liked the Beatles...

Oh, look at 171 - "Dancing Queen" - by the Byrds! I think they have got Abba (at 170) and the Byrds mixed up, there - though I owuld love to hear a Byrds cover of Dancing Queen!

I'm off to look at the Top 500 Albums now... thanks for the link!

I'm going to browse through the albums now - noticed typos but not that wonderful transposition!

I'm cartainly not the world's biggest Beatles fan myself - this idea that everything they released is a gem bores the t*&^% off me.

Since I don't have an iPod, I looked at the albums list first -- and promptly wondered how we can own so many CDs and have so few that are on the list. Then I realized Mike probably owned a lot of these in vinyl before we got married. I, on the other hand, have owned only 40 of the 500. I'm not sure what that says -- aside from that I didn't have a lot of cash to spend on music and I'm not a Bob Dylan fan.

I fare better on the individual songs. :)

But reading all the background info...oh, my, I could be here all day!
