I just woke up on the sofa to find the throw had drifted to the floor - it's not cold, but the temperature dropped enough that I feel chilled. Having crawled into bed hasn't quite warmed me up yet...
I dashed home from work for the appointment with the Rogers engineer for cable & broadband installation, and tidied up a little very quickly, and sat down to wait. And wait, and wait. S/He was due between 5 and 8. At 8:02, I called Rogers and the call-centre girl said there was no note on my account, so she'd see if she could find anything out & call me back. About 9:02, having had no call back, I called them again. This time, a nice boy named Alan in Ottawa (Why? Isn't St John's the call-centre capital?) also found no notes on my account, including no reference to the call a hour earlier, and of course, couldn't find out what had happened to the engineer because St John's despatch was now closed. Bah. But he sent them an email to call & give me priority service over the weekend, and credited my account with $40.
So at 9:30, I finally got round to microwaving something for supper. I'd been going to order out as a Friday-night treat, and because I didn't want to be in the middle of either cooking or eating when the engineer showed up - which I obviously shouldn't have let worry me - but by then, I couldn't be bothered. Instead, I have spent the entire evening on tv overload, because I have cable - just not on my own account yet. There appears to have been a CSI Miami marathon on, as I think I watched 3 episodes while waiting. The street has been very busy, as it's been a lovely warm dry evening - and a September Friday - I remember the rush to get downtown back in the day. I wanted to take pictures, but my rechargeable batteries aren't recharging.:(
Work was OK, got a bit accomplished, so feeling a little less lost all the time, and I went to lunch at Velma's with three girls from the office. The last time I was in Velma's was about 23 years ago - Glenn & I went there for lunch when we hitch-hiked into town to see April Wine the summer before I started university. Oddly enough, i also got an email from him this evening - the first since I came home in May.
Well, I really had hoped to get this out of the way tonight, and be able to access my study materials and stuff this weekend - we'll see what tomorrow brings.
